Masjid Anguilla(Anguilla Mosque) caters to the needs of the Muslim followers in Little India. The land to build the mosque was bequeathed by the wealthy and Angullia family in 1970. The mosque is named after Mohammed Salleh Eusoof Angullia, a rich Indian merchant who migrated to Singapore in 1850 from Gujarat in India. The mosque is able to house about 400 adherents.

 

When the temple was built,(possibly in 1890) it was built to meet the needs of Indian Muslims from Bombay(\(\(Mumbai).  Today the mosque largely caters to the spiritual needs of the Muslim foreign workers who originate from the Indian sub-continent (i.e. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) the mosque has been generous in raising funds for charitable causes such as feeding, housing and educating needy Muslims in Singapore as well as overseas (in India and the Middle East). The Mosque’s Foundation also contributes generously to help defray the costs of Muslims who want to perform the Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca) Furthermore, the mosque is well-known for its activities to promote piety amongst its adherents.
