Mustafa Centre is a 24-hour retail centre located in Little India, founded by Mustaq Ahmad. When it first began in 1971, it sold mainly clothing and fashion goods. Business gradually expanded over the years and Mustaq moved to the ground floor of Serangoon Plaza in 1985; he eventually bought the neighbouring units, and it became the massive shopping centre as we know it to be today. Mustafa is made up of two buildings: one housing a large supermarket and retails jewelry and household appliances; the other selling books, footwear, clothing among other things. The story of Mustafa Centre is similar to the story of Singapore. Both Mustafa and Singapore had humble beginnings, and grew to be successful stories through their hard work and risk-taking.

Both Mustafa and Singapore dared to be different, thus they are an example to the world of how hard work pays off.

Mustafa has gained much popularity especially with tourists over the years because of its supreme discounts and it is open 24 hours a day. The shopping centre has a great variety of many different things, ranging from Rolex watches to washing machines.
